Jazz House is a RIBA West Midlands Award 2026 shortlisted project delivered on a tightly constrained urban backland site. The scheme transforms a fragmented cluster of derelict garages into a carefully composed, low-energy home, demonstrating how considered structural engineering can unlock challenging sites.
BRO Consultancy provided full structural engineering design for this complex infill development. The site presented significant constraints, including irregular geometry, multiple party wall interfaces and restricted access. A predominantly timber structural solution was developed in response to both the logistical limitations of the site and the project’s low-carbon ambitions.
